Andrea Poteete of Hot Springs, was crowned Mrs. Arkansas America on Nov. 15, 2016 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. She was awarded, among an array of prizes, an all-expenses paid trip to represent the great state of Arkansas in the 2016 Mrs. America Pageant. The winner of Mrs. America will go on to compete for Mrs. World.

Phases of the competition included interview, swimsuit, evening gown, and on stage question. As the state title holder Andrea will promote her platform “Voice for the Voiceless” Animal Welfare and Rescue, as well as the role of family and marriage in today’s world.

Andrea (33) is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems-Programmer Analyst. While attending UCA she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority-Upsilon Chapter. As a UCA student Andrea also made two appearances on the trivia game show “The Weakest Link” in Hollywood CA, representing UCA in the college sorority/fraternity edition.

Andrea is involved with many organizations for animal fostering and rescue in her community. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the local Humane Society. She speaks on the importance of educating ones community on pet adoption, the over crowding of shelters, and the need for spaying and neutering. She is also an advocate for the family unit- believing that stronger families, create a stronger society.

Andrea is married to her husband of 3 years, Joshua Poteete. Together they partner in the re-homing and fostering of animals. They are also advocates for vicious breeds and the banning of BSL. They enjoy several outdoor hobbies, such as road cycling, hiking, golf, playing with their 5 dogs, and volunteering at their local animal shelter.

Andrea has a passion for people as well as physical fitness. She has been a certified personal trainer for 13yrs. While believing that physical health is very important, she recognizes that emotional, and mental health are also staples for a healthy quality of life. Andrea has a strong faith in GOD, and a strong prayer life. She enjoys fellowship with friends and family, as well as writing- in her spare time. She has plans on finishing and publishing her cook book, full of healthy recipes in the near future.
